Again in Papua New Guinea, we serve a third term with Mission Aviation Fellowship. We currently stay in Telefomin, a village in the West of the highlands close to the Indonesian border. With small airplanes, MAF supports people living in the bush enabling basic services like health care, education, and community development, as well as spiritual support through church workers.
The Special Relationship
The special relationship between Australia and Papua New Guinea derives from PNG's former status as an Australian Territory until it achieved nationhood in 1975. Many Australians served in PNG as public servants, missionaries, entrepreneurs and in other roles—and many were born there. These close bonds with Papua New Guinea and its people remain to this day.

The Association
The PNGAA is a dynamic association for people with interests in contemporary and historical events in Papua New Guinea, supporting friendly and positive relationships between the people of PNG and Australia, and the preservation of historical material related to Papua New Guinea. Its journal, titled Una Voce, is published quarterly and has progressed from a brief news sheet to a highly-praised journal of over 60 pages. At the same time, the Association's membership has expanded into a global network of almost 1500 members.

Background
The PNGAA was originally established as the Retired Officers' Association (ROAPNG) in 1951 to safeguard the interests and retirement conditions of superannuated former Australian public servants who had worked in the then Territory of Papua and New Guinea. While the safeguarding of these interests remains an objective of the PNGAA, its scope is now much broader. Over the years, the Association's role has progressively changed to include activities such as supporting projects in PNG, working to strengthen the Australia-PNG relationship, and preserving historical materials related to PNG, as well as facilitating communication and interaction between members.

History
The Free West Papua Campaign was launched in 2004 in Oxford, UK. We have grown from being a volunteer organisation through to having permanent offices in Oxford (UK), The Hague (Netherlands), Port Moresby (Papua New Guinea) and Perth (Australia). We are a group of people from human rights, political and environmental backgrounds, a number of whom are West Papuans or have spent time in West Papua. Our leadership comes from West Papuan representatives internationally, and in West Papua itself.

 Aims
We are a peaceful, public campaign, whose aim is very simple: to give the people of West Papua the freedom to choose their own destiny through a fair and transparent referendum – a freedom they have always been denied. We work with politicians of all parties, and also with other NGOs and campaign groups, both national and international, towards this aim. We have no religious, party-political or corporate affiliations, and we are determinedly non-violent. Our funding comes from donations, the sale of merchandise, public fundraising events and occasional grants from charitable foundations. For more information about the aims and structure of the Free West Papua Campaign please take a look at our Guidelines for Free West Papua Supporters and Groups.

Do you want to be involved in something that has eternal value that not only impacts people spiritually but also helps them in many practical ways? Discover what God is doing in the South Pacific and join us in this great adventure!

Wendy Johnson - I believe that everyone in the South Pacific (and the rest of the world) should have access to a Bible that they can clearly understand in their context. One of my roles with Wycliffe Bible Translators is to share the needs for this area and hope that God will raise up people to join us in the task. My husband and I served in Papua New Guinea for 14 years and, while I’d love to visit all the countries we work in, I have visited Vanuatu and the Solomon Islands. I’d be happy to answer any questions you have about our work and my hope is that some will want to join us. We’ve been serving with Wycliffe for over 30 years and I have to say, it’s a great way to spend your life! Come join us!

So.. Like other hundreds of travelers i created a blog. For ME its a way to record some of ..my madness that i can look at for years to come...

Our Pacific Ways reflects on Our Pacific traditions for inspiration to move Our Pacific People forward.
We live in a part of the world that has huge potential but is currently being subjected to a model of development that only allows for a few elite and money-men to prosper at the expense of the vast majority of Our people.
Our Pacific Ways challenges the current systems of exploitation and asks: What if we did things according to Our Pacific ways?

Welcome to the land of the unexpected! I have set up this pickletastic blog to share positive, inspiring, and interesting stories from Papua New Guinea (PNG). In 2013, I ignored the sensational stories and disregarded the narrow-minded reporting on PNG and started a 15-month placement with Voluntary Service Overseas (VSO). I’ve been in PNG ever since and it has had a profound effect on me, shaping the course of my future.

I became a Christian in college and it wasn't until I was already in medical school that I really started to ask God what He wanted me to do with my life. Thankfully, He confirmed my desire to be a physician and led me to a mission trip to South Texas and Mexico that served as a stepping stone to me being in Papua New Guinea today. I went to Ghana to check out overseas missions as a medical student and felt that might be where God was leading me. I returned to South Texas to train as a family practice doctor at the Valley Baptist Family Practice Residency Program and applied to Samaritan Purses's Post-Residency Program.

Recently returned to New Zealand having spent 6 years working in Port Moresby; Papua New Guinea as the Chief Information Officer for ASX listed Financial Services firm Kina Securities. Happily married to my reality checker, she of www.hotstrongcoffee.com and very proud jungle gym for the 3X’s… X1,X2,X3 – my kids.

We had the experience of a lifetime, moving from Dunedin and becoming expats in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea. Keep checking often as I recount our trials and tribulations as we live/lived in “The Land of the Unexpected”, and my thoughts on Technology, PNG Development and Expat life. Coming back to NZ feels a bit like leaving, so I will still keep the blogging going – but there maybe more focus on an outside/in view of PNG, as well as life outside the bubble.

Please do let me know if there is anything I can help with especially about PNG, but also if you need formal advice or advisory services.

This blog isn't to extol the virtues of Palm Oil, or to rage against the environmental damage it can do. I just want to give people an idea about where Palm Oil comes from, the people, the land, the weather (there is a lot of weather) and a bit about my life in Papua New Guinea.

The company I work for are certified by the Round table on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) as well as the Sustainable Agriculture Network (SANS) which gives us Rainforest Alliance Certification (this is the green frog you might have noticed on some products like, chocolate, coffee, etc). As far as Palm Oil goes we are the good guys.

Welcome to PNG Echo, a website that is designed to do so much more than just report on the politics of Papua New Guinea (although we will do that too.)

Our aim is to wrest the reins of power from out of the hands of corrupt leaders and put them back into the hands of the people by exposing corruption, limiting the opportunity for the corrupt to retaliate and creating a context where corruption may no longer be carried out in secret..

An initial coin offering (ICO) or initial currency offering is a type of funding using cryptocurrencies. Mostly the process is done by crowdfunding but private ICO's are becoming more common. In an ICO, a quantity of cryptocurrency is sold in the form of "tokens" ("coins") to speculators or investors, in exchange for legal tender or other cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin or Ethereum. The tokens sold are promoted as future functional units of currency if or when the ICO's funding goal is met and the project launches. In some cases like Ethereum, the tokens are required to use the system for its purposes.

UNAIDS is leading the global effort to end AIDS as a public health threat by 2030 as part of the Sustainable Development Goals. Since the first cases of HIV were reported more than 35 years ago, 78 million people have become infected with HIV and 35 million have died from AIDS-related illnesses. Since it started operations in 1996, UNAIDS has led and inspired global, regional, national and local leadership, innovation and partnership to ultimately consign HIV to history. UNAIDS is a problem-solver. It places people living with HIV and people affected by the virus at the decision-making table and at the centre of designing, delivering and monitoring the AIDS response. It charts paths for countries and communities to get on the Fast-Track to ending AIDS and is a bold advocate for addressing the legal and policy barriers to the AIDS response.

Fox Sports is an Australian group of sports channels, owned by Fox Sports Pty Limited (known as Premier Media Group until February 2012), which is owned by News Corp Australia. Its main competitors are ESPN and beIN Sports, both available as part of a Foxtel subscription.

Fox Sports in Australia differs from other Fox Sports-branded channels in the United States and elsewhere around the world in that it is not owned by 21st Century Fox, but by News Corp—the publishing company that was spun out from the larger News Corporation in 2013. Although 21st Century Fox maintains ownership of the remainder of News Corporation's broadcasting assets, its Australian television assets were spun out with the new company as well. Both companies nonetheless remain under the control of the Murdoch family.

Ethereum is an open-source, public, blockchain-based distributed computing platform and operating system featuring smart contract functionality. It supports a modified version of Nakamoto consensus via transaction-based state transitions.

Ether is a cryptocurrency whose blockchain is generated by the Ethereum platform. Ether can be transferred between accounts and used to compensate participant mining nodes for computations performed. Ethereum provides a decentralized virtual machine, the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM), which can execute scripts using an international network of public nodes. The virtual machine's instruction set, in contrast to others like Bitcoin Script, is thought to be Turing-complete. "Gas", an internal transaction pricing mechanism, is used to mitigate spam and allocate resources on the network.

Ethereum was proposed in late 2013 by Vitalik Buterin, a cryptocurrency researcher and programmer. Development was funded by an online crowdsale that took place between July and August 2014. The system went live on 30 July 2015, with 72 million coins "premined". This accounts for about 70 percent of the total circulating supply in 2018.

In 2016, as a result of the exploitation of a flaw in The DAO project's smart contract software, and subsequent theft of $50 million worth of Ether, Ethereum was split into two separate blockchains – the new separate version became Ethereum (ETH) with the theft reversed, and the original continued as Ethereum Classic (ETC).

The value of the Ethereum currency grew over 13,000 percent in 2017, to over $1400. By September 2018, it had fallen back to $200.
